Type: Periodic Perihelion date: 24 April 2023 Perihelion distance (q): 6.1 Aphelion distance (Q) : 8.0 Period (years): 18.7 Eccentricity (e): 0.13 Inclination (i): 14.6 JPL orbit diagram COBS lightcurve PanSTARRS 2 discovered an 18th magnitude comet in images taken with the 1.8 m Ritchey-Chretien on 21 January 2023. There were prediscovery images with ATLAS- HKO on 13 January and Xingming Observatory #3, Nanshan on 19 January 19. Alan Fitzsimmons suggests that it may be a Centaur asteroid that is undergoing an outburst. It may have passed around 1 au from Jupiter in 1930 October.
