LINEAR discovered an 18th magnitude object on 17 March 2011, which was seen to
show a coma by astrometrists, including Peter Birtwhistle, Roger Banks and other
observers. The comet was over 7 AU from the Sun at discovery. Visual observations
in the first half of 2012 show it brightening to around 11th magnitude.
