The ATLAS (Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System) team discovered a 19th
magnitude object in images taken with the 0.5 m Schmidt at Haleakala on 26
December 2025.
Definite cometary activity was not detected, but the object has brightened more
rapidly than a purely reflecting body should. Cometary activity began to be reported
in late January 2026.
