It was 19th magnitude at discovery. It was at perihelion at 3.4 au in late December. Erwin Schwab reported his recovery of 2005 Y2 in images taken with the 1.0m reflector at the European Space Agency's Optical Ground Station at Teneriffe on 10 March 2019.
