Type: Periodic Perihelion date: 12 September 2021 Perihelion distance (q): 2.3 Aphelion distance (Q) : 5.1 Period (years): 7.1 Eccentricity (e): 0.38 Inclination (i): 11.9 JPL orbit diagram COBS lightcurve 284P/McNaught = 2007 H1 = 2013 J1 Rob McNaught discovered a 16th magnitude comet on images taken for the Siding Spring Survey with the 0.5-m Uppsala Schmidt on 17 April 2007. It was confirmed by several amateur CCD observers. Further observations showed that it has a period of 7.0 years. The comet has perihelion at 2.3 AU and a period of 7.0 years. It reached 13th magnitude at this return. Jim Scotti recovered 2007 H1 with the Spacewatch 1.8m reflector on 1 May 2013. The comet returned 0.22 days earlier than predicted in September 2014, and was predicted to reach 13th magnitude.
