Alex Gibbs discovered an 18th magnitude comet on 26 December 2006 during the
course of the Catalina Sky Survey with the 0.68-m Schmidt. The comet was near
perihelion at 1.3 AU.
H Sato recovered 2006 Y2 on 16 May 2012, though confirmatory images were not
taken until June, when the recovery was announced. The comet was near perihelion
at 1.3 AU at recovery.
