Type: Periodic Perihelion date: 10 September 2020 Perihelion distance (q): 2.1 Aphelion distance (Q) : 5.4 Period (years): 7.3 Eccentricity (e): 0.43 Inclination (i): 20.2 JPL orbit diagram COBS lightcurve 257P/Catalina = 2005 JY126 = 2012 F4 An 18th magnitude comet found during the Catalina Sky Survey on 7 June 2005 was linked to an asteroid detected at the Steward Observatory on 3 May, and with earlier observations by the Catalina Sky Survey on 17 April. It reached perihelion in late February 2006 at 2.13 AU and has a period of 7.3 years. The comet was recovered by G. Sostero, N. Howes, A. Tripp, E. Guido using the 2.0- m Siding Spring-Faulkes Telescope South on 21 March 2012.
