2002 LZ11 was discovered by LINEAR as an 18th magnitude asteroid on 5 June
2002. It was subsequently found to show a coma on images obtained on by the
Catalina Sky Survey in October 2003. Ernesto Guido, Giovanni Sostero, Paul
Cammileri and E Propsperi recovered the comet at 19th magnitude on 17 April 2009
using a remote telescope in the USA (a 0.25-m reflector near Mayhill, New Mexico).
