216P/LINEAR = 2001 CV8 = 2009 D1
A 19th mag object that was reported as asteroidal by LINEAR on 1 February 2001,
was found by other CCD observers to show cometary activity. Additional astrometry,
orbital elements and an ephemeris by B. G. Marsden indicated that the comet
passed about 0.14 AU from Jupiter in November 1998.
The comet was recovered by Jim Scotti with the Spacewatch 1.8-m reflector on 19
February 2009.
