Additional astrometry, orbital elements and an ephemeris by B. G. Marsden indicated that the comet passed about 0.14 AU from Jupiter in November 1998. The comet was recovered by Jim Scotti with the Spacewatch 1.8-m reflector on 19 February 2009.
