Comet 1986 W1 was discovered on Catalina Sky Survey images taken with the 0.68-
m Schmidt telescope on 9 January 1986 by R. A. Kowalski. Confirming images were
taken with the Mt. Lemmon 1.5-m reflector and also following posting on the NEOCP.
