NGC 2264 refers to two objects in the constellation of Monoceros, the "Cone Nebula" and the "Christmas Tree Cluster", that lie at a distance of ~2,600 light-years. The brightest star is magnitude 4.7 HIP 31978.This image shows the cluster and brightest portion of the nebula. It comprises 10 x Ha, OIII and SII (150 seconds each), 0.5m f/2.9 ASA Astrograph with FLI ML3200 camera at an altitude of 70 degrees on 5 December 2018. It follows the CFHT convention (Ha-OIII-SII mapped to RGB). The field of view is 34' x 23'.
