Messier 86 (North Up, East Left)
Messier 86 actually comprises two galaxies of type E3, seperated by 78" in the constellation of Virgo. NGC 4406 is the largetst, NGC 4406B lies to the north east. The galaxies are part of "Markarian's Chain" and are members of the "Virgo Galaxy Cluster". There are several other galaxies in the field. The brightest are identified in the final image. The images comprise 4 x Luminance (300 seconds each), 0.101m f/5.4 Tele Vue refractor with FLI ML16200 camera at an altitude of 70 degrees on 23 May 2017. The fields of view of the first and second images are 132’ x 132’ (2.2 degrees square) and 42’ x 42’, respectively.
