Herschel 247 and Messier 108 (North Up, East Left)
Herschel 247, also known as NGC 3556 and Messier 108, is a galaxy with classification SB  in the constellation of Ursa Major.  It has a diameter of ~81,000 light-years.  The “Owl Nebula”, Messier 97 is visible to the south-west of the galaxy in the top image. The images comprise 6 x Luminance (300 seconds each), 0.101m f/5.4 Tele Vue refractor with FLI ML16200 camera at an altitude of 60 degrees on 27 February 2017.  The fields of view of the top and bottom images are 132’ x 132’ (2.2 degrees square) and 42’ x 42’, respectively.
