Caldwell 82 (North Up, East Left)
Caldwell 82, also known as NGC 6193 and NGC 6188, is an open cluster and nebula in the constellation of Ara. It lies at a distance of ~4,400 light-years and is ~1 billion years old. The Caldwell catalogue is listed in order of declination. There are 109 members, but Caldwell 82 represents the practical limit from La Palma. It has a declination of -49, so only reaches an altitude of about 10 degrees from the observatory. This image comprises 10 x Luminance (20 seconds each) and 6 x Red, Green and Blue (15, 18 and 18 seconds each), 0.5m f/2.9 ASA Astrograph with FLI ML3200 camera at an altitude of 10 degrees on 21 August 2019. The field of view is 34’ x 23’.
