Jim Scotti discovered a 19th magnitude comet in images taken with the 0.9-m Spacewatch telescope at Kitt Peak on August 18. The comet was at perihelion at 1.8 au in September and has a period of around 6 years .  By contrast JPL gave a nearly parabolic orbit until late September, but did publish error bars.
