The All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASASSN) discovered a 15th magnitude comet with the "Cassius" 14cm telescope at Cerro Tololo on 19 July 2017. Before the discovery announcement JJ Gonzalez had made a visual observation estimating the comet at 10th magnitude. It should become observable from the UK in early August and should be a binocular object over the late summer, autumn and early winter.Date10x10 magErrorKphot magComa '21-Jul-1714.760.0111.94.227-Jul-1714.510.0111.83.604-Aug-1713.780.0810.62.319-Aug-1713.480.0510.34.021-Aug-1713.780.0110.61.628-Aug-1714.160.0411.13.216-Sep-1714.310.0211.35.602-Oct-1714.280.0311.24.717-Oct-1714.170.0111.14.325-Oct-1714.140.0111.03.613-Nov-1714.660.0211.32.328-Nov-1715.310.0212.01.022-Dec-1715.770.0912.61.504-Jan-1816.780.0113.71.614-Jan-1816.680.0113.61.121-Jan-1817.000.0413.90.809-Feb-1817.720.0814.80.809-Mar-1818.460.1816.60.314-Mar-1818.610.0817.70.3
