244P/Scotti = 2000 Y3 = 2010 Q1 J. V. Scotti, Lunary and Planetary Laboratory, reports his discovery of a 19th magnitude comet with the 0.9-m Spacewatch telescope on 30 December 2000. The comet shows a coma diameter of 7" and a 0'.93 tail in p.a. 269 degrees. Additional astrometry, including prediscovery observations by LINEAR on 29 November and 21 December identified by B. G. Marsden indicated an approach to within 0.05 AU of Jupiter in September 1998. Jim Scotti recovered comet 2000 Y3 (P/Scotti) as an essentially stellar object on images obtained on 19 August 2000 with the 0.9-m Spacewatch reflector at Kitt Peak.
